DIMENSION SLIP (2024)

Miracle Media. Digital. Out Now
This was originally titled ‘How to Solve Your Own Murder’, which kind of clues you in to what this film is about. Kate (Sophie Craig) is stressed by her job and keeps suffering from migraines. So much so that she ends up quitting. She keeps having visions of someone who looks like her but isn’t.
The other woman is Hannah (also played by Craig) who has a successful job as the head of marketing at a pharmaceutical firm. After a bit of a day at work, where she was told off b y her creepy boss, she meets one of her friends to talk and have a relaxing wine — she tells her about having migraines. Flashes. Images. Memories. Just like Kate.
Cut to the same friend but with Kate not Hannah. Quick flash cuts between the two.
Confused? You will be… what is happening?
Then a strange man called Nickolei (Andrew Norman) appears to explain about multiple dimensions as he can travel between them. Hannah (or is it Kate?) apparently has the same ability but doesn’t know it. Someone has tried to kill Hannah. Kate, who has now switched with Hannah, must try and find out who is responsible, whilst living her life.
Kate takes on the ‘role’ of Hannah and tries to pretend she actually is her seemingly richer and more successful parallel persona. She can’t get anybody to believe what is going on. Will she be able to get back to her own life?
A low budget British sci fi drama with a mystery at the centre, this is interesting conceptually even if it isn’t completely delivered coherently. Lead girl Craig is effective in the dual roles. Some of the other actors less so. Andrew Norman plays Nickolei as if channelling Sylvester McCoy. There’s even an explicit reference to Doctor Who at one point.
The last portion of the film doesn’t play out quite as you would expect.
