DARKFEST IS BACK FOR A GRATEFUL 8!

DARKFEST IS BACK FOR A GRATEFUL 8!

Octophobia is a recognized phobia, an intense and irrational fear of the number 8. Probably something to do with spiders. People with this phobia may experience anxiety, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, sweating, and even panic attacks when confronted with the number 8. On the other hand, if you lay that 6 down on its side you have the symbol for Infinity, the world’s best cult TV and sci-fi mag.

Of course the best way to overcome any phobia is to face your fears, and we are confident that a great number of Dark Side readers will be doing that by joining is for DarkFest 8 on November 22nd for a fun day mingling with fellow fiends and top horror celebrities while watching a great line-up of horror classics on the big screen. There will also be the usual array of dealer tables and we plan to even have a surprise music act!

The venue as always is London’s magnificent Genesis Cinema in Whitechapel, and among our guests will be Lynn Lowry, star of David Cronenberg’s Shivers, which we will also be screening.

We’ll also be welcoming Victoria Price, Sherry Buchanan and Ian McCulloch (Zombie Holocaust), Sam Irvin (Dressed to Kill), Karl Howman (Expose), Silvia Collatina (House by the Cemetery), Francesca Ciardi (Cannibal Holocaust); Martine Beswick, Maddy Smith, Linzi Drew, Eileen Daly, Tim Dry (Xtro), Caroline Munro, Valerie Leon, Judy Matheson, Pauline Peart and Barbie Wilde!

Films screened will be House By the Cemetery, The Pit and the Pendulum, Zombie Holocaust, Expose and Shivers, plus a mystery movie that is the Editor’s choice and will be well worth waiting for!

You can also buy copies of our brand new Dark Side book: 1968: The Diary of a Monster Kid, in which DS Editor Allan Bryce recounts his memories of a misspent youth – it’s 365 Dark Side editorials collected together!

Tickets are up for pre-order now and you can also pre-order my Diary book! Tickets are still just £40 each even in these inflationary times, so don’t get stuck behind the 8-ball and miss out on this horror event of the year!
