THAT ALIEN, SOUND (2025)

Micah (Mia Danielle) has her headphones on enjoying the music whilst she is working in a record store. Suddenly she screams and falls to the ground clearly distressed.
Her boyfriend Shannon (Will Tranfo) asks her what is wrong – her response ‘What am I doing here?’ He is understandably freaked out as she claims she’s not Micah but she is a sound wave and has just become a human! Not weird at all…
She continues to act strangely – like eating a burger and fries as though she has never had one. After all she says, ‘Never had a mouth before’.
Shannon understandably wants to know why this sound wave has taken over his girlfriend’s body, so he takes her to places he and Micah would go to. He even thinks she is doing a bit.
He eventually drops her off at Debbie’s (her Mum’s). Debbie (Amy Hill) thinks she’s on drugs.
So ‘Micah’, who becomes dubbed with the name Sound, tries to explain who (or what) she is… is it some kind of alien soul swap or is she in fact having a mental episode of some kind. Is Micah now lost?
Interesting and weird concept for this indie production, which is trying to say something about the human experience. The film is carried by Danielle, who gives a wonderful performance as she explores the world and her emotions and switches moods. Discovering new things. We get comic and sweet moments, as she captures her naïveté. The narrative does jump about a bit and it eventually start to meander as the story progresses. And then it just kind of ends.
